NativeVRF: A Simplified Decentralized Random Number Generator on EVM Blockchains

Smart contracts refer to small programs that run in a decentralized blockchain infrastructure. The system is trustless, and the determination of common variables done by consensus between peers. Developing applications require generating random becomes significantly challenging—for instance, lotteries, games, assignments. Many number generators (RNGs) for smart have been developed environment. methods can be classified into three categories: on-chain RNG, Verifiable Random Function (VRF), Commit–reveal scheme. Although existing offer different strengths weaknesses, none achieves important requirements an ideal RNG solution: security, applicability, cost efficiency. This paper proposes novel approach called Native VRF, which offers application development simplicity efficiency while maintaining strong security properties. Experimental results show VRF has same properties as widely used methods, i.e., Randao Chainlink VRF. On top that, our work much simpler setup process lower hardware resources developer expertise requirements. Most importantly, proposed compatible with all Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) blockchains, contributing overall growth ecosystem.
